Favorite Game Fish
"My favorite game fish is steelhead. In fresh water they are the most prized on the west coast. The first run is pretty much all theirs. They pretty much do whatever they want unless you use some heavy heavy tackle. I think people tend to land 1 out of every 3 steelhead they hook. They used to be called the fish of a thousand casts, but if you study the guides and learn from them you can catch alot of steelhead. They are good eating, kind of a cross between a salmon and a trout, they're a rainbow trout but after spending some time in the ocean they kinda taste in-between a salmon and a rainbow trout. They're called steelhead cause there's actually some metal in their head, cause they eat alot of crabs that have alot of natural iron in their shells. Just kidding, actually its because they live in the blue ocean and to camoflouge themselves they adapt to that blue color. When they come out of the ocean theyre like a steel blue on top." -Justan Angler

Napa River (CA) - 02/09/2010
CNH, Definitely a sit on top for all around usage. Guys generally prefer smaller kayaks for river usage for easier manueuverability. Last year I used my 12.5ft on the Klamath with no problems. Now I have a 13.5ft. It still works great on the river but is faster for covering ground on the ocean. I have a Hobie Revolution with the peddle drive unit. Costs a lot but worth every penny to have the option to paddle or peddle. Much more info on kayaks over on NCKA website. A good paddle kayak for primarily river and short distance river usage would be an Ocean Kayak T-13 but once you try a Hobie with the Mirage Drive you won't want to paddle.

Snohomish River (WA) - 02/09/2010
Not to be a partypooper, but theres just no fish! Theres no water and just no fish period! If anything hit the upper Sky, but again all odds are against you. However if you must fish the Snohomish the steelhead bars are on private property and the next thing to do is fish from a boat. Thats my story and I'm stickin to it!! Your better of getting a couple hookers and some cocaine and staying in....

Pilchuck River (WA) - 02/08/2010
Fished the Chuck for the past 15 years and this is the worst season I can recall. Picked up three around x mas and nothing since. I have caught many fresh hatchery fish in Feb. Alot of beautiful natives as well in the past but don't see that happening this year. The river is to be closed next year and no fish were planted this year. Pretty much this is the end to the Pilchuck as a fishery! Next time you see a state official thank them for using our license and tax dollars designed for our fisheries wisely!

My Favorite River
Lockwood Creek, a tributary of Piru Creek is one of the finest native trout fisheries in So. Calif. I hope you add it to your list of Calif. streams; many folks fish it and would submit comments. Check out this photo
