Best I can recall the hexagenia hatch occured in late June / early July. What insanity! Bass, trout, catfish, and sunfish caught by anybody with a spin rod, torpedo bubble, and big yellow mayfly pattern. People in boats, inner tubes, inflatable pool toys 50 yards from the dock getting their flies worn out...Almanor, and perhaps Crowley are about the only places I would consider getting another float tube. I had one, but found that it is so much easier to fish from a canoe, and the mess it makes in the back of the car, along with the wetsuit. Too much hassle.
