good luck it is amazing and beauitful on the main road to yosmite behind gas station on the left turn to 4o make the left and behind gas station is store carries bait called the 49er Bass wishes

There is a bait shop in Mariposa that offers everything you need. I don't know your gear but a few weeks back we had the whole place to our selves. and caught some trout Bagy is not bad for shore fishing Salmon

joeyp, I've never fished the Merced but I'm told it's amazing. And if you haven't fished many rivers or streams I'm sure you're in for a treat. Check the regs on what you can and cannot use. I usually use lures so I don't know much about bait fishing. Your best bet is to stop in at a local fishing shop near where you're fishing. Get as much info as you can from those guys. They'll know everything about the river and what the regs are (and the'll be glad to sell you lots of gear of course).

Going to bryce burg this weekend...never really fished rivers or streams

Merced falls. Fished all day with power bait and salmon eggs and had no luck. Brother in law from Finland had just bought a baitcaster reel and we were messing around with a lure and practicing right before dark and he got a 12 incher 5 feet from the bank. We did catch a good buzz though. Lots of fish jumping also.

Need some advice. End of the month staying in Mariposa to visit Yosmite for the week and get a day to take them all fishing either in the park or around.. Small kids ages 2,5,and 7 Looking to shore fish and let the little ones have some action reeling them in, so any recomendations or advice out there?
