This is the river with the arguably best chance for numbers of steelhead on the lower 48 of the US out of Lewiston Id..

Planning a trip to the Clearwater in two weeks and was hoping someone had some updates for us to prepare...We will be checking in leading up to our trip. Got skunked last year to do bad weather so hoping that doesn't happen again. Thanks in advance...

Bank fishing the NorthFork just below the dam on the 20th and 21st. Fishing was slower that normal, the water in the Clearwater was mirky, the NorthFork was only sightly cloudy however. In the 2 days I was there only 7 or 8 fish were taken, that I was able to observe. It should pick up again in the next couple of weeks, dependant on the weather.

Sounds like it was your day. We fished the Clearwater around Orinfino on January 1. Fishing from the bank with bobbers and eggs and also tried. We didn't have any luck and didn't see any fish caught. We're new to steelhead fishing so take this report with a grain of salt.

I was just out near the Clearwater last weekend (right where the Snake and Clearwater meet, Lewiston/Clarkston area). Those are gorgeous rivers. I hope we get some good reports on those. I didn't actually have time to fish out there but I saw a lot of boats so something must be gonig on.
