My daughters and I went out the weekend before Christmas. We caught 4-5 inch perch at a constant pace. The hard water is about 5 inches thick. We fished in 5-6 ft of water. No trout were caught. They seemed to bite everything we put on their hook. It seems to be best to look down the hole so you can set the hook when they inhale your bate!
