Mohawk River (OR) 10/10/2010 ~ quack77
I love this river! My Uncle owned property along the Mowhawk and I used to go fish the river during the summer. I recently took a trip back to my old fishing grounds. The river is crowded with trees making casting difficult. I flyfished and caught all my fish on a size 10 possie bugger (see the caddisfly fly fishing shop in Eugene to get some of these). I stopped counting fish at 40. Most fish in this river are cutties. The largest one I caught that day was 17 inches. Most fish average between 8-10 inches. The smallest fish I caught was 3 inches. What does that mean? The fish are hungry. If you don't mind having to stop and take your fly out of trees from time to time you will be very successful. ...more
