Still fish in the Dungeness! Everytime it rains more come up river. The hatchery is TOTALLY full of fish, they cannot handle anymore. Giving them away to the local food bank.

Good for you Jay! The Dungeness is a good river to fish...one of my favorites. I'm glad to hear that a few more fish have gone up the river. Have a lot of fun catching those "pretty beat up" fish. I'm having a lot of fun with the CHROME Silvers and Chum down here on the Skok.
Good luck to you.

No lie fished all weekend 10/24 - 10/25/09 Lots of fish up river! Most were pretty beat up, however good numbers of bright fish, still had the sea lice scars back aft.

cohomagic.......
You say I am lying, then you confirm that there are no fish in the lower and mid river? If 157 percent of the expected run is already in the Hatchery, how many more fish are left to run up the river? Not many. Where do you think all those chromies you found in the upper river are now? That's right, they are in the Hatchery by now. I'm not driving 2 hours to fish where the run is done, no matter how much I like to fish the Dungeness.
Good luck to you and tight lines to all.

thats a lie... yes the run is going fast but the upper river are filled with chromies down low is a no go.. but you better hurry because it is true that the run is almost over..but need to say caught 3 chrome one was 12 pounds the rest 6, 7 hens... all on the upper dungeness nothing in the middle.. hooked at least 8 fish in a 4 hour period.. 2 were chum though lost the rest or hooked wrong.

Just got home from the Dungeness opener. I'm sad to tell you guys that most all the coho are IN the hatchery. There are quite a few BIG 5 year olds in there too. They would have been fun to catch, but the run is over already. ALL the fish are red and black. Even the VERY FEW ones we saw in the upper river. All we saw in the lower river were 3 almost dead Pink Salmon. Didn't see any Chum.
We won't bother to take the long drive to the Dungeness again this year. Too bad for the hard working folks in the Sequim area who would have made money off of our need for a hot meal and what have you.
WDFW has screwed up BIG TIME this time.

Went to the lower Dungeness River yesterday. The fish are not in...don't waste your time there. The river is low and very clear.
