Fishing Reports for Elwha Riverlogin to add a report
Freddy just returned home last weekend from the Elwha. The bridge is done and the access beneath (currently only down stream) is open. The water was off color due to snow melt and heavy rain. Fish were tough to locate but an occassional head raised. Can't report any "torpedos" this year due to stained water. Took a ride down to the lower river and was surprised to have the place to myself. It was late in the day and a few big fish had pushed in with the tide. A harbour seal cruised their shadows. Took a few casts but relucantly had to head back before any takedowns. Will spend more time on the great river next year.

LOVE, FREDDY
Freddy's heading up there later this week. Gonna check out the construction and so forth and hope to post a glowing report on the mighty Elwha. LOVE, Freddy
Freddy is up in beautiful Wash. state annually around Oct. Didn't fish the Elwha this past fall and only went down once the previous. On that excusrsion, did catch some healthy sea-runs below the bridge before told that area was closed. So, the fall of '05, '06 and '07 were the times when Freddy enjoyed catching, releasing and seeing many large and larger salmon. When the Kings weren't accomodating the healthy Chums warmed the chilled autumn air with bounding aerial acrobatics and dogged determined runs.
When did that happen, Freddy? Kings were done months ago. Still, hope to see the dams go down soon!
Once mighty Elwha "kings" aren't far fetched. Freddy was tossing below the bridge before the construction, fish everywhere, hooked a few of the small ones. Thought they were small 'till Freddy pulled them into shallow water after 15 minute battles - 25-30 pounders. Much larger silhouettes sliding by Freddy all the while. The "torpedos" that Freddy never hooked, easily tripled in size the "small ones" Freddy landed. Stunned that Freddy was the only one in the water in this salmon nirvana. The mighty Elwha will rock again.....soon.
