Hello everyone.... Saturday was the day from hell! At the upper gate Hunters property, the indians shot paintballs at us from the rez side and threw rocks at my buddies wife. We contacted the police. State patrol, Indian Game dept. and Officer Flowers came out at 3:30, one hour after it happened. They looked at our video, rec. one tribal guy, but not the others. They said they need better video and pics, but it is class 4 assault. no one was injured thank god! If anyone has any problems with the 6 guys on the rez side, call 911 ASAP! This is on file and try to get video and pics to enlarge if possible. Paintball guns this time, what if they come next time with firearms? Thank you for everyones help!

We got he rest of our limit right after sunset with glow corkies. You know that one hour time limit.

Which gate lock did they break or was it the farm lock itself?

Hey ConservativeFisherman - sorry to hear about your fish being snagged right from you! I have to say, this last weekend I was pretty upset about some of the midnight netting and snagging going on myself. I travel a long ways to get to the Skok and I am disappointed with the lack of mutual respect people have these days for one another or even themselves! I was closer to the meat hole on the 12th and NOTHING!! finally got to see some fish on the 13th and headed up to the upper gate till late! LOTS of kings! My advice - AT LEAST 20lb test (mine got snapped 3x in no time), yarn and plenty of weight.

BTW, if anyone knows who broke Mr. Hunter farm's lock... Please let him know, that is just wrong. WALK IN!

I am not going to use this board to go off on someone or even hate on the lawbreakers who are dominating the skok right now. Yesterday looked promising, until I seen all the illegal snagging taking place at the clay banks(The snaggers side of the river). It was very clear what they were doing. What is worse, is that someone snagged my FISH from ME as well. How low can you go? What has happened to ethics when one is fishing? I would never do that to any body, because I for one have field ethics and etiquette .
To those fishing on my left and my right, thank you for obeying the law and making my trip a good experience. I do like fishing around real fishermen and not the lawbreakers. As a matter of fact, us sportsmen and gentlemen need to get together and clean up this once enjoyable fishery. In other words, report any violations you see taking place as soon as possible. In this way, the riff raff will go somewhere else and leave us alone.
Now for my fishing report. I did hook several Kings yesterday before my reel gave out on me lol. I did have an extra reel, but by the time I put fresh line on it, the water was becoming to high to get any decent drift and I called it a day at that point.

Thanks to all who are continuing to pick up your garbage and pack it out when you leave. Would like to say that the fisherman got a bad rap last year when the crapping on the river bank story came out. The truth is that there were no sanicans up river, only at the Hunters farm. It wasn't until that story aired that the state put sanicans out at purdy creek parking lot, and at that boat ramp area. I'm not sure if there were any down at the guard rail near the mouth. Also when that story came out it hadn't rained in a couple of months so the chances of any fecal matter being in the river were about zero. Considering how much money the state makes from sport fishing licenses you would think they would do more than try to cover up the fact that they had neglected to put sanicans out.

Hey use heavyenough gear at the skok.

And would someone with someone give a update on the silvers.

went to skok this morning. There are still fish everywhere. Everyone within eye sight left with a fish today. Hooked into several silvers/jacks. Plunked into a deep hole that was hard to get to and it had some huge chrome kings. Looked like dolphins. Take extra gear, the river is snagtastic!

Hit the skok this morning. Still lots of nice fish out there everywhere. The water is crystal clear so they are easy to find. Everyone as far as I could see left with a fish. I had several hookups, mostly silvers (jacks). Saw some huge beautiful kings in one hole I plunked in. They were the size of dolphins. MAke sure and take extra tackle, it's snagtastic!

hit the skok this morning till lunch time. Still alot of fish moving around, some have alittle color and the majority are still silver. I hooked up with several fish while I was there, mostly silvers. But could'nt land them because my line sucks, had lots of fun though. Everyone out there around me as far as I could see left with a fish. Saw some insanely huge kings in one hole that I plunked in, still chromers.Looked like dolphins. The water is crystal clear and make sure and take extra gear. It's snagtastic!

Looks like trouble for the Coho run. Probably the worst timing ever. Hopefully it will get better. Read the report. I guess I'll see ya at the Stilly.

Tay Tay - I would say the best three rivers to fish right now are the Nisqually, Carbon, and Puyallup. They seem to have a later Chinook run than the Skok. Good Luck.

Big One - Thank you so much. I will try that place out this Friday.

Tay Tay - I would say the Chinook run is basically over. WDFW has confirmed that Coho will begin there push into the Puget Sound following Labor Day. I was trolling off Point No Point and my girlfriend caught a small 8lb silver today. I didn't catch anything, I blame my new "Ace in the Hole" downrigger set-up. But, the lady at the dock taking the fish count for WDFW says there has been a dramatic spike in Coho caught this weekend compared to last week. Here they come. I would think the saltwater will be good until end of September, probably be a safe bet to head into freshwater beginning of October. Just watch the fish reports for Hoodsport and Union, when it starts going off down there the Skok will heat up.

WDFW has also confirmed that the Stillaguamish River and Skagit River will have the largest return of Coho in the state. You definitely need a boat to fish the Skagit. But, I will fish the Stilly. Here is where to fish on the Stilly. Just east of I-5 fish the sandbar at Blue Stilly Park. Or near the end of Dike Rd is a great big sweeping sandbar. Or Haller Bridge in Arlington. Or east of Silvana is a nice place near the mouth of the river before it splits and rejoins at the I-5 bridge. These are the four main spots on the Stillaguamish before the river forks into the South and North. If you are going to fish the Skagit, visit Steelheaduniversity.com and click the regions link. Go to the mapped rivers link. Click the Skagit. There information on that river is spot on. Good luck everyone.

So what about the Skok, since this is a forum for the skok? Just got back from sea and don't know what's popping. Are the kings still running or is the run over? Anyone know when the Silvers are supposed to start? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

METROKING- At the carbon river park next to the police station. Walk down the bike trail you will come to a rock bulkhead fishing there wasn't,bad but cross the river right down from there before the rapids start it shallow there.Walk up stream around the first coner there is a hole there the fish like to sit in but there only there early so don't show up late be first thing and you will be in them.I forgot bring a wagon or something its aways to carry to big fish.Lots of people ride bikes dragging there wagons.

Big One -Ahh yess!!! The Carbon River is a nice place to fish. Where do you like to fish on the Carbon? I've only been there twice to Voights.

I'm with you, I think Im gonna hit the Puyallup and the Carbon tomorrow.

Newbies - The Puyallup is a nice river to fish. Fish the area on N Levee Road (behind Kmart) and Momma Stortinis' on Hwy 410. The usual corkies and yarn or floating bobber rig will do. The native americans can only net on Sundays. So, this Labor Day should be good. It will be crowded, but, we're from the Skok. It shouldn't be a problem for us. Good Luck.

The Nisqually would also be nice, but, native americans can net Sunday to Tuesday. I wouldn't go on these days. Plus, you want to go there with a friend who can help you net. The edges of the river are very steep and rocky. It can drop like 6ft with one step in some places. Definitely not like the smooth sandy banks at home.

My dad says it is some tough fishing on the SKOK. I have not been there in a few weeks. You have to work all day for one fish. Good Luck and stick to your game plan.
