PS. don't bother taking a boat out on the weekends, seems the seems the enthusiast boater or whatever you want to call them have no respect for the sporter's.
have spent several hours the past few days and only catching 5 or 6" perch and 1 small mouth about 5 inches. think the lake sucks.
Dropped a half of a redworm down to the bottom and two turns up of the reel at the Shoreline park dock around sunset in late September, 2006. A HUGE fish hit and pulled my line back under the dock the opposite way (behind me), and took quite a bit of my 8 lb-test line out, and didn't slow down. I tightened my drag jut a bit and fought it for a while, and my line snapped! I think it was a huge bass or a monster brownie.
Have caught several 8"-12" rainbows and perch off of the dock(Bill's Boathouse). Also trolled nearly every hole on the lake but couldn't fing a sweet spot. NEED SOME TIPS FROM A VET!!
i caught an 8 and a 1/2 pound largemouth in little american on a 6" wooly hawg tail / watermelon
We went out for 7 hours starting at dawn and only caught 1 12" Kokanee and a 5" bass while trolling everywhere we could without getting hit by waterskiers. I heard from an old timer this year is bad for the lake (no reason given).
can someone help me find out where the best trout and perch are to catch on american lake
try fishing for some perch around sun up in the shallows, i caught one about a foot long
The trout bite has gone done a ton! Wedding rings still work the best for me but only the green and orange ones. There are some monster perch in there and some good size bass. Happy fishing
Wow!! I didnt even know that American Lake had bass in it, Im X-military been here for 9 yrs, been fishn American for the last 4 on and off. Ive caught some monster trout out of the there in one spot (secrete) but never thought to bass fish it? thanks for the tip..see you there ..
EIGHT- ( 8 ) pounds
WOW , this has to be told ! I caught a huge bass * lbs 5 oz. yesterday 4/09/2007. I was using a 6 inch purple worm fishing texas style over some weeds in12 feet of water when the monster struck. I was using 8 lb test Trilene xt and a shimano stella 2000. 6.5 ft graphite rod. What a fight! I am currently choosing a good taxidermist.
what a crappy lake, fourth time out there and still nothin. tried everything and nothing, i suggest that you guys try somewhere else.!
I am an avid bass fisherman out of Indiana and will be in your area in July of 06 and I am looking for info on american lake such as boat rentals, bass'in prospects for that time of year..anything that would help. You can e-mail me a usndbld@suscom.net Thanks
Roy... try trolling a needlefish about 20 ft down at a fairly fast troll send out 100 ft of line and troll around silcox island ..early morning just after sun up
Fishing in this lake is great around the dock. I found the best success for schooling perch and trout by dropping a maggot or two on a #6 hook all the way to the bottom and reeling in about 4 inches of line. I LOVE going up to Washington just to fish American Lake!
Thanks jj. I fixed your typo (which I don't think was intentional). The correct word is chum. Don't foget the h.
worms rostertails, eggs, you can even chum
