Went to the handicapped spot near the train bridge, and had some real good luck on Green corkys and black yarn on a 6 ft leader, While I was down there I seen quite a few hooked and a good amount landed, The Indians were pulling the nets 2-3 in a few hours and they were all bright. Hopefully we get some good returns this year.
Chum are in chorme bright with sea lice still on them. About 20 -25 were landed
at the campground and gravel bar today.

Nothing at all going on at the river! Water is up about two feet and clarity is about 10inches. Indians didn't fair well this past week from what I saw and was told. There are a few Coho still around and Chums are starting to show in nets. Good luck, its not over yet!!!
the river is fast and deep "fisher", use a heavier set up then normal. corky and yarn on a octi hook.1/4 ounce i think. idk, i go by feel when its in the water. you need to feel the bite, and the corky needs some resistance to line the hook up down river. use 4 ft of leader to your weight.
alot of people are having sucess using bobber rigs with jigs or eggs on the Sko. might be a good thing for the handicap spot down till it gets rough again.
Either way the fish are there. you just have to play the river to find your spot

went out for an hour today around 8, saw a few jumping around the nets. looks like they're getting cought up pretty well on them. river is 3 feet higher then it has been over the last few months. you cant make it to the gravel bar up river of the disability access spot. the river is just too deep and fast right now. the millitary side looks like you can reach where they're cought up. try the using the railroad to drop right ontop of the hot spots
water is muddy, but silvers are there and more will come!!!
on the military side i watched a guy diggin around for whatever he could find and when i fished up he rifled my tackle box. guy is black with oreint type looks wire rim glasses and drives a maroon suv - speaks pigeon english and has no class - didn't think the military side was an issue - wrong -took about 100 worth of jigs and corkies to boot - be aware
Will some one please tell me how to fish this river and what to use. I dont have military access. i mostly fish the campground, gravel bar, and handicaphole. i would really appreciate if someone told me everything they know about catching silvers in this river.
Fished today from 7:30 to almost 10am. I floated roe below the bridge. No bites, but I saw three pulled on corky drifts. Still getting the hang of how to fish it! Some great people down there that will help point you in the right direction. Make sure if you don't have a military/dependant ID and a DoD sticker for your rig that you fish the civilian side: the MPs are checking!
@ thisilldefend on 2 Sept. your an ass wipe for, your info dude is a vet and DOD civilian. what he does down there is for the benifit of the fish and fishermen. I am down there everyday. its idiots like you that foster bad relations for everyone! do us a favor and go fish somewhere else.
Cali, Rogerdodger, and Wayne: Thank you very much for the info! If my chevelle sells this weekend, I plan to get my license (instead of a one day pass), hit Cabela's and pick up a St. Croix Salmon/Steelhead rod I have had my eye on, and see if I can't pull some of those bad boys in! If I get to go, I will let you know how it went
fishfoe if your going to Cabelas stop in to the office at Riverbend Campground they have discount coupons as a courtesy.
fishesfoe, If you live in Tacoma, Sportco in Fife has a good selection and people to talk to. Use small corkies if you fish the Nisqaully.
Fishesfoe,
try Cabelas or Wholesale sporting goods they are only about 10 minutes from that river off of Martin rd. They should be able to answer any questions you might have.

I have spent the last three years in Germany, so I had been asking around to find the fish and was lead to the Nisqually. Pulled up, w/ proper DoD sticker and ID, walked down to the river just in time to see a guy pull in a pretty good fish. I could use some pointers on how to fish this stretch, and where to find gear. Seems like Tacoma doesn't have any fishing shops!

where did all the reports go for the puyallup nisqually and other local rivers? Cmon guys
My group landed 3 today, saw 4 other chinook caught
Anyone been out there lately. I saw the nets out clear across the river by the highway bridge this morning.
The fishing was good today! The fish are there at daybreak
Fish are still there but you need to use eggs and float them in the slower holes. This is by far the most productive river between the skok green puyallup and the carbon right now!
Well the Kings are Darken up and running fewer and fewer, time for the COHO to show... Its been a challenge this year,no doubt. Fish seem to hold in deeper holes which have been tough to find.. the CAMPGROUND has almost completely filled in and has little or no deep hole left, SAVE YOUR $6.00.
Hooked a couple of kings today. to many people. walking down below the bridge is bad idea, MP will nab you. black yarn and corky will do the trick. make sure corky is small
